Typekit font question

Community Beginner ,
Oct 14, 2017 Oct 14, 2017

Sorry I am new to Illustrator and typekit so I may not be using the right lingo.

I bought the use of a typekit synced font. I created a logo with it. I saved it as an ai file. I need to send the ai file to someone else so they can print it. Will they be able to do this or do they have to buy the font too?

If they have to is there there a way I can modify the file so they can print it. I heard something about outlining the font but not sure if that does the trick.

Thanks for any guidance in advance.

Thanks. I guess that's what has to be done most of the time then because with the zillions of fonts out the the chances that the printer has the same one would be very slim right?

Unless they have the same font they won't be able to view it correctly. You can select the text and use Type > Create outlines. This will convert the text to shapes.

Yeah, when providing print ready artwork outlining the fonts is the standard thing to do. Just make sure you keep the original version so you can change the text if needed in the future.

No.

Outlining the type is standard procedure for delivering logos. For a variety of reasons.

For delivering artwork print-ready, creating a PDF and embedding fonts is standard procedure.

Thanks. This begs a question: I found that the same font I bought on the Adobe Typekit website for $49.99 was available from typenetwork.com for desktop use for $40 and I would be able to download the OTF font file instead of only being able to use the font synced. Why would I not want the latter where I actually get the font file and for $10 less instead of syncing it from Adobe Typekit? What am I missing here?
