recreate an impressionist style paint in Illustrator?

New Here ,
Jan 27, 2017 Jan 27, 2017

My teacher has asked our class to recreate an impressionist style painting like Starry Nights or Water Lilies using Illustrator. I have looked through the assorted brushes and cannot seem to find just the right brush to recreate the look/texture of that style of painting. Any suggestions?

Thanks, A  Beginner

That's a bit unusual for Illustrator. You might consider looking at the Effects Menu>PhotoshopEffects>Artistic for some filters borrowed from photoshop that might give you the look you are after.

That sounds not just unusual, but quite weird. Especially for beginners.

Are you sure that you are expected to recreate the painted look? WIth real brush strokes?

Does your school have access to Lynda.com? It's a paid ressource, but it has a trainignon how to achieve painted looks: Drawing Vector Graphics: Painting with Vectors
