Clone stamp tool behaving strangely - offset from center

Since the beginning of Photoshop's clone stamp, the stamp tool begins in registration with the sampled portion image at the same location as its source. Suddenly this is offset, making the kind of precise retouching needed for CPG for architecture images needlessly more difficult. I've reset the tool preferences to no avail.

Is this another product innovation intended to demonstrate the function of a profesional tool to a first time user? I hope not. Yes, professionals use this software. It's not a toy to be tinkered with by product managers making guesses. Every product innocation in Creative Cloud should need to a pass a panel of gatekepers who's job it is to do actual work, not to make things 'fun' or 'new'.

Adobe - plase stop listening to novice opinions as the direction for your product improvements. If you must, please consolidate all those opinions into one 'fun' piece of software called Sketch or Corel.

Sorry for being upset, but please keep the sampled source aligned to the middle of the clone tool. Thanks for listening.
