Photoshop doesn't create specified canvas size, keeps reducing by 0.3

Create a file with a size eg: 120mm x 120mm at 300dpi and then check canvas which is now 119.97mm x 119.97mm.

What gives?

Is it because its a pixel is 0.3mm and 120mm is an uneven number for pixels to fit??

    You are right.

120 mm is about 4.72441 inches

At 300 ppi 120mm will need about 1,417.32 pixels

Clearly you cannot have an image with 1,417.32 pixels so it is rounded to 1,417 pixels (the only use made of the size in mm is to get a number of pixels, and after that all is in pixels).

Now, 1,417 pixels at 300 ppi is 4.72333... inches or 119.972666... mm.

All this is normal, but looking too closely after the decimal point can cause alarm.

    Yes

Photoshop creates images in whole pixels. The size in inches/mm is calculated from the pixel size and the resolution (ppi)
