magic wand tool not working properly?

magic wand tool is selecting everything of the same color on the screen even though they are connected or not

what i have is a single layer

with a white color background painted with the paint bucket and then 2 rectangles were drawn on it in red color (the rectangles dont join or touch each other )

everything is still on the single layer

when i use the magic wand tool on the red rectangle  instead of selecting just 1 single rectangle it is selecting both of them (they are not connected in any way,

the tolerance is set to 1, the white pixels are not selected, it is working the same way color range works) how do i correct his
