[Accessibility] How to Fix Autotag Text as Figure?

Hi everyone,

The autotag is tagging some of the PDF text as figures. As I use CommonLook PDF it would just show as FormXObject. Screen readers like JAWS read it as "graphic" instead of the text itself.

How to get it to fix to tag text properly?

Thank you

Hi

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat!

I want to understand how the file was created. Was it created directly in Acrobat? Or a scanned image converted to PDF?

If the file was created using PDFMaker for Word, can you verify if the "Make PDF Accessible by tagging the document" was checked in the preferences?

You might also want to check the section "Edit table tags and tag unrecognized tables" section of the help page: https://adobe.ly/4dwYyyT.

Hope this helps.

I'm suddenlty having this same issue along with MANY more!

I have a 68 page document, all tables.  The tables are returning with errors.

So, I tried autotag to see if that would fix the tags.  Nope.  Every page is now a Figure.

Was this answered?

I just don't get it; what happened to the installation of Acrobat DC?  I'm running into a boatload of accessibility/tagging issues. The glitches are costing a LOT of MONEY and TIME.

I'm not an IT Tech; the registry is not accessible by the end user.

Thank you!

The tables were created in Word or Excel and converted to PDFs with Adobe Acrobat Pro 2024.

Sometimes our documents contain scanned pages.

The "tag" option is selected in the conversion.

I'm also still having issues with tables in Word (MS 365) headers not being recognized even though "Repeat Header Rows" is selected.  Again the accessibility "tag" option is selected.

The header error doesn't happen to EVERY table.

It is suggested in another forum post to use "Save As" pdf to convert the tables to pdf and the headers will be tagged correctly.

If I use "Save As" and select the file type to a .pdf, I get no bookmarks.

I have experimented with the Word options: Save, Save As Adobe PDF, Save a Copy.

See my settings below.

Thank you for your help.
