Acrobad using 257 GB of application memory???

New Here ,

Why is Acrobat claiming bizarrely huge amounts of Memory on my mac (2019 iMac, Big Sur 11.6),  Acrobat Pro DC 2021-007-20091.

If finally quit itself, in the process losing its memory of recent files for the last 2 weeks.

It's a miracle that Adobe can stay in business while making software like this (and at this cost!)

Hi Randolph,

Sorry to hear about such experience so far.

Acrobat DC doesn't occupies this much of disk space. If your is 257GB then there's something wrong. May be you have got a lot of updates, each update least adds 3x its download size.

If you get a lot of updates, then uninstall the application once and reinstall. And the one latest update, will reduce disk storage space.

Run this cleaner tool: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html

and Download the Acrobat DC from here: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

Please check the system requirements for Acrobat DC here: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/system-requirements.html

Thanks,

Akanchha

Adobe DC did not claim 257G of disk space, but of operating memory (RAM), suggesting a major memory leak when left running for a while. Once it crashed (and nearly crashed my Mac in the process... it took out several other apps, but not Finder), the program's memory usage returned to normal, so far.
