Acrobat 2024.003 is getting worse and worse

I am working with Acrobat Pro since the very, VERY early days. Instead of improving the app it is getting worse with every update. Here is my current bug/missing feature list:

  • Does not list last open files correctly on splash screen
  • Does not list last used folders on save screen. I still did not find a way to switch off the new save screen.
  • Editing tools are reduced – Using Creative Cloud I do NOT want to use Adobe Express.
  • The app is overall sluggish, slow and unreliable
  • Generating and editing forms in Acrobat is terrible, slow, buggy, sluggish and not intuitive, yet complicated.
  • Text tools are reduced and limited in the current version. E.g. in former versions the line height when filling forms could be adjusted – not anymore.
  • The recognition of form fields in scanned documents does not function anymore reliable. Crosses are not automatically set in the correct size and cannot be copied. So every cross mark set in a form has to be adjusted individually.
  • Text fields altogether cannot be copied anymore when filling/generating forms.
  • I could not care less for AI support as long as basic functionalities are getting worse instead of getting fixed...

No platform makes it more obvious how much silo thinking is within the dev teams of each app than Adobe CC.
Shortcuts, icons, functionality, underlying code – Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and worst in Acrobat – all apps seem to be programmed from different and rival software companies.
Where is the synergy? Where is a unfied app experience?
Why does Acrobat need to be that bad now?

Totally agree with you. Adobe Acrobat 2024 is AWFUL now. It's very confused and the usability is terrible. What do the developers had in their brains to create a so bad version and full of garbage? Please, bring back to the classic version. AH, and I HATED this IA.

Agreed. changing signature, adding comments all sluggish. the previous version on my old laptop was much more functional.

Apologies for the problem. Could you please share us the logs so that we can look into the issue

Steps

Close Acrobat
Download and run Diagnostics utility https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-diagnostics.html
Select Start Diagnostics.
Now Open Acrobat and reproduce the issue.
Select Stop Monitoring, and share the log ID with us.

Same issues here too. It's awful, it took 3 minutes.

Hi

Could you Please try disabling the app conatiner mode and see if it helps to resolve the slow opening issue in PDF.

To disable app container mode

Open Acrobat

Open Preferences dialog

Go to Security (Enhanced)

Uncheck Run in AppContainer

Hi Ravi,

I tried your suggestion but couldn't see the option 'Run in AppContainer' on the Security (Enhanced) page. I'm working from the Mac version.

I agree with the other comments. Acrobat Pro is almost useless. It gives the spinning ball for up to a minute to switch between open documents, drag handles to increase window size, etc. I want to disable all AI functionality.

Thanks,

LR
