Acrobat 9 pro problem

Hi,

Once in a while Windows 10 Pro updates screw up Acrobat IX pro license which stops working with the following message: ~The Acrobat 9 Pro was installed as a part of CS4 Master Suite. Please start any other application like Photoshop CS4 to activate it. Originally a license window came up (upon opening another CS4) then you could activate it. Later, uninstalling and reinstalling helped. Now seems nothing works. The latest Windows 10 Pro update screwed me up again. Uninstalled Acrobat IX Pro and can not put it back from the DVD it stuck on preparing to install message. The rest of the CS4 Master Suite works fine

Running Windows 10 Pro, 2.8 GH 8 core i7 Intel with 32 GB Ram. I depended on Acrobat IX Pro for Editing.  Definitely not nice.

Any workaround?

Thanks,

Nandorg88333539

Safer to stick with a supported combination of system and application. Acrobat 9 wasn't written, tested or supported for Windows 10.

after securing your serial number(s), uninstall all acrobat/reader versions

clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

restart your computer

copy the installation files from your cd to a desktop directory

install from your desktop directory

activate using your serial number(s)

THANK YOU FOR THE QUICK RESPONSES.

I WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASIZE MY SOFTWARE IS LEGITIMATE WHICH I PAID FOR, AND

ACTIVATED CORRECTLY. I am sure Adobe Systems has a record of it on their

SERVERS. This always happens after Windows 10 feature upgrade release

installations. Previously I was able to wrestle back your precious

software. Not this time:

Your Suggestions Unfortunately INCORRECT and does not help. Please read the

original post what versions I have.

1) The clean up tool is useless:

IMPORTANT:

1. THIS TOOL IS NOT FOR USE WITH ANY CREATIVE SUITE PRODUCTS INCLUDING

SUITES THAT CONTAIN ACROBAT. IT CAN ONLY BE USED WITH STANDALONE VERSIONS

OF ACROBAT AND ADOBE READER.

2.This version of the tool only supports cleanup of DC products (both

Continuous and Classic tracks). If you want to remove any older versions of

Acrobat and Reader products then please refer to “AcroCleaner for 10.x and

later”.

3. In some scenarios Cleaner tool might affect some preferences common

between Acrobat and Reader. Hence it is advised that if both Acrobat and

Reader products are installed on machine then the installed product be

repaired after running the cleaner Tool.

2) You can not reinstall from the file system/root because the *Acrobat 9

Pro is a part of the CS4 Creative Suite*, which has only one Lic# (as

communicated in the original post) and the individual installation does not

recognize it:

It does not matter if you use files from the DVD or backup drive. I also

happen to believe that if I try to reinstall the complete CS4 Creative

Master Suite package again (i.e., all of its components) IT WILL BE DEAD.

*My explanation of what likely going on as follows: *The Feature upgrade is

in conflict with the Adobe "piracy-sensor" by changing certain features,

therefore the software can render/block the legitimately installed

components as if would be pirated ones. The overall beautiful consequence

is what I experience.

SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIT: *ADOBE is screwing me, by disassembling my CS4

Creative Master Suite and invalidating its individual components while try

to FORCE ME either to:*

1) BUY again and move to their cloud-based software system in order to

gain higher corporation level control over my usage.

2) Drop ADOBE products altogether and use their competitor product.

Fantastic Marketing Strategy.

3) Try to convince the younger manager generation at Adobe to give back

my software which I already paid for. (*for your benefit: this is what I am

trying to do*).

MY ANSWER: I will drop CS4 Creative Master Suite Components one by one

WHEN Adobe disassembles it further, and finally move to competitors after

decades of productive use :).

Response to the second comment:

I know Windows 10 (which is altogether a fun story) was not even becoming a

spark in a back of the head some MS Nerds when I bought the CS4 Creative

Master Suite, and therefore its full compatibility with the OS naturally

nonexistent. Your suggestion to move up and buy a better version is not

SATISFACTORY & SUSTAINABLE, basically because the CS4 Creative Master Suite

Works just fine (until this last attempt of elimination).

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Best,

Nandor

Nobody is taking your software away from you. All you need to do is run it in a supported environment, which means not on Windows 10 (or 8 or 7). You can find the system requirements for CS4 here: System requirements | Adobe Creative Suite 4, Point Products

If you don't want to set up a computer with Windows XP to run CS4, you can run XP in a virtual machine on top of Windows 10. That's what I do to run older versions of software that are not compatible with current versions of Mac OS or Windows.
