Acrobat cancels scan

I am using a Mac, HP 8740 All in One printer, Acrobat DC. I have the latest versions of all drivers, software, etc. on all said devices.  I have been scanning without any issues using File/Create/Scanner within Acrobat.  Recently however the scan cancels on its own after about 2 - 3 pages.  I have verified the scanner works.  I can scan directly from my HP 8740 to my computer.  I can also scan from HP Scanner Utility on my computer to a PDF.  (I have found these methods are not favorable though because of large file sizes and not being searchable upon scanning, so extra steps required.)  I have tried to look into options such as Twain, etc. but can't see how to do that on a Mac.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat DC to no avail.  Any recommendations on how this can be fixed?

Thanks!

Update: A couple hours after writing this I was at home and scanned on my printer there, an HP 8610 All in One inkjet printer.  I scanned a 23 page document 3 times as a test and all worked beautifully.  So there seems to be an issue with the HP 8740 and communication with Acrobat.  Are there any settings in Acrobat that can be adjusted so it might work with the HP 8740 better?  Are there maybe eany network settings that maybe could be adjusted?

Yes, I know I'm resurrecting a thread that's nearly 2 years old. But I was having the same issue with my Brother L2550DW on macOS Catalina. I could all my documents through the feeder in the Brother scanning app or the macOS Image Capture app, but Acrobat would cancel itself after an inconsistent number of pages. But then I got an idea and, so far, it seems to work!

In the Custom Scan settings, disable "Recognize Text (OCR)."

This immediately solved my problem and I could scan all 56 pages that previously canceled at around 34. And my scanner is even on the wireless network!

I think the OCR option is taking too many computer resources and that's crashing the scanning operation.

(I still had deskew and descreen turned on.)

I hope this helps!

There is no specific settings related to a scanner.

There could be multiple root cause for this issue like drivers problem, connectivity problem, compatibility issue, hardware issue or communication problem.

If you face this issue again in future, you can try some troubleshoot option available in the link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-scanner-issues-acrobat.html.

Thanks.

Thank you for getting back to me.  I looked at the linked document before I wrote the post yesterday and was not able to resolve anything.  I did verify the printer/scanner works and will scan to a PDF using other programs other than Acrobat.  Any other ideas?

Thank you.

Update: I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer (for about the 3rd time).  I tried scanning with Apple drivers. No luck. Then tried scanning with HP drivers. No luck.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat twice. No luck. The reason I uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat for the second time is because now when I try to scan the scan window disappears and basically crashes.  Screenshot of the window that disappears attached.  This used to say scanning page one, two, 3, etc. after clicking the Scan button then would cancel the scan like mentioned in my earlier post but now this just entirely disappears and nothing happens.  Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Thank you.
