Acrobat DC for mac puts up a black screen over my pdf when signing or securing

On only one of my Macintosh desktop machines, Adobe Acrobat DC will not allow me to sign my own documents or secure a document with a password. When I click on the "sign document" tab, a dark screen takes over the document and prevents further action, causing me to have to "force quit" Acrobat. When I attempt to secure the document with a password, clicking the secure with password tab results in the same action, except there is a white box in the center. It is as if there is supposed to be a message there, but nothing appears. Again, the program needs to be forced to quit. Similar descriptions in the forum suggest fixes for the Windows version. None seem to have helped for me, though opening a document with the web version will allow me to sign the document.

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out to Acrobat Community.

Looking at the description given above, it seems you have been facing trouble applying signature and password to the document. Have you checked any other feature or used any other feature? Did it work fine?

To figure out whats causing trouble viewing the further action after using these features, you may try the following steps-

1- If you are working on Document Cloud files, then Open a PDF that is locally saved on your computer.

2- Still same result, then Quit Acrobat and all its process running in Activity Monitor>Reboot system

3- Open Acrobat>Help>Check for update and install the latest patch if its still running on previous one:https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

4- Once done, try signing and securing a pdf. If that still doesn't work then Navigate to Edit>Preferences>Security (Enhanced)>uncheck "Enable Enhanced Security" and Protected View>Reboot Acrobat.

After applying these setting, repeat your workflow and see if this makes any progress.

Thanks,

Akanchha
