Acrobat Distiller 9 says font "cannot be embedded because of licensing restrictions"

I need help with Acrobat Distiller 9 (which I can’t find on the products list). I keep getting an error message saying a font “cannot be embedded because of licensing restrictions.” First: I don’t have a licensing restriction because I’ve used the font in 2 other documents today without issue. Second: Just for the heck of it, I replaced the font but I’m still getting the same error message, referencing the now missing font. HELP!

You won't find Acrobat Distiller 9 on any product list from Adobe because it wasn't a standalone product. Acrobat Distiller 9 is a component of Acrobat 9.

With regards to the ability to embed fonts in PDF files, the fact that a particular font may be used in a word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, or graphics program doesn't necessarily mean that the font is licensed with privileges for embedding in PDF, EPS, ePub, or other electronic formats.

Provide us with a bit more information about the font that the Distiller is complaining about and maybe we can assist a bit more.

I was working in Quark. This is a font I use often -- including 2 other Quark files just an hour before.

Don't know what the problem was but I've since worked around it by cutting/pasting all elements into a new document. It was happy with that.
