Question

Acrobat Error 205 code

For the past few days I've been having issues with Acrobat and not opening because of a "code 205 error."

I have searched and followed the steps given because this seems to be a common issue.

BUT, I have tried to download the Adobe cleaner tool and when trying to sign in, it simply does not let me. I have updated my password and still won't let me sign in.

I have uninstalled Acrobat, I've logged out and back into the Adobe cloud, restarted my computer, deleted certificates, and whatever else.

Not sure how I can fix this problem. If anyone has other tips/tricks, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @Colin30982865d7xb

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.

Do you get any error messages when you try to open the application? If yes, please share the screenshot of the same. A small video recording of the steps and the issue would be very helpful.

Please remove the application using the Acrobat cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html  , reboot the computer once and reinstall the application using the direct link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html and check.

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal

Amal,

I would appreciate your help too. I have also been getting error code 205, therefore unable to use Acrobat for months now on my 2019 MacBook Pro with Ventura 13.5. I have not had the problem with other Adobe apps in my Creative Suite including InDesign and Photoshop; I also never had this problem with Acrobat prior to this spring. I have tried all of that but will try again. I have to guess that this is a bug in the app that Adobe needs to fix.
