Hello Robertc,

As per the description above, the Acrobat Pro is freezing while you are trying to sign a PDf document, Is that correct?

The record shows that you are subscribed to a license of Acrobat Pro version 10 on your current Adobe ID, please check for any pending updates of Acrobat Pro 10 from Help menu>Check for updates. You may also repair the installation files of Acrobat Pro from Help menu>Repair installation(only for Windows).

After the update and repair, please reboot the machine once, and see if this brings any difference. If the issue persists, please share the following details:

Let us know how it goes.

Note: Acrobat 10 is declared as an End of Support product, for more information, you may refer to End of support for Acrobat X and Reader X

Regards,

Anand Sri.

I also cannot sign my documents. I am using Acrobat DC and overtime I click the form to sign, it freezes and I have to force quite Acrobat to make restart.

I never had this problem until about a year ago.

Anand,

Of course I had already tried the above before even sending in the request. Why would I not have tried what was written before stating I have the same problem? The above does not provide any solution to my issue.

Jason

  • It is a Mac
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2018.009.20050
  • It is with all forms that I try to sign (it freezes and does not release though it does not indicate that it is not responding when I look in Force Quit on Mac)
  • It is my laptop that I use for teaching

This issue has been raised to Adobe since Dec 19, 2017.  More than a year and Adobe still didn't solve it????? this is very strange and I'm very disappointed, frustrated and disapproved.

Marhaba Omar, I believe the solution for your black screen issue which you described elsewhere has been addressed by Adobe on this post.

That appears to have done the trick, but it would have been good if Adobe had told us about it.  It certainly wasn't working last week.

Hi Adobe. I am using the Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, which auto-updates. I have been trying for two days to send a document for signature and everytime Acrobat freezes. I have tried 10 times with same frustrating results. I have confirmed that I am running the most current software. Please fix and credit my account until you do so.

I've installed Adobe for the sole purpose of signing a document. But when I click the "Add signature" button the adobe screen greyes out - as if it's trying to load something - but then nothing happens.

Hi Sam

we are sorry for the trouble. As described the application is freezing when trying to sign a document.

We need some more information for a better understanding. Is this a behaviour with a particular PDf file or with all the PDFs? Please try to sign a different PDF file and check. if its a file specific issue please share the file with s for testing. Please upload the file on the document cloud (https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/home/) generate the link and share the link with us.

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat / Reader DC and the OS you are using? To check the version of the application please use the link (https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html)

Make sure you have the latest version 20.006.20034 installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates. For more information please use the link (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html)

Let us know how it goes.

Regards

Amal

I'm having this exact same problem: when I try to sign a document (after opening up the Fill and Sign menu), the entire Adobe app screen goes dark grey and becomes unresponsive--though my Macbook's Force Quit menu does not show the app as "not responding."

I'm using Adobe Reader DC on a macbook. The version of Adobe is the most recent one:  2020.009.20063.

We are sorry for the trouble and the delay in response.

A new version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader DC is now available v20.009.20065. Please try updating the application and see if that makes any difference. Go to Help > Check for Updates

The only thing I've noticed is that when I am trying to add a signature to a protected document (for example, I use Bromium), this screen freeze occurs. Removing the protection seems to solve my issues. Hope this helps

I'm experiencing the same situation when trying to digitally sign anything. Once I click on "Configure Digital ID" the screen greys out and then just hangs there until I force quit. The same goes for protected and unprotected PDFs. Creative Cloud says that it's up to date.

When trying to choose 'save as' basically the same thing happens. It just hangs there, freezes and then I have to force quit. So if I create a PDF by removing or adding a page I can't ever save it.

Here are details:

Acrobat 2020 Pro is becoming unusable.  Almost 75% of the time when a signature is involved, the product freezes. I tried calling adboe a couple of times but never get through even after 30 minutes on hold.  Have removed and reinstalled multiple times...

I agree.  I consistently have to reboot my computer before signing a document using Acrobat Pro.  Maybe something is wrong with my setup...but it feels like this is a recent (about a year) problem.  And it's disappointing, given that Acrobat is now quite an expensive annual license...
