Hi there,
I'm creating a fillable form for our clients to provide testimonials and images of the product. I'm able to get the form to prompt an image insertion by using the javascript option in Acrobat*, but when I try to open the form in Preview (for Mac), the image fields remain blank and do nothing upon clicking. Is this feature only available through Acrobat? Or is there an option that would get the image fields to work with simple pdf viewer software?
I would prefer not to use an option only available through Acrobat because we can't be certain what software our clients are using to give us feedback.
Thanks!
* am using Acrobat DC for Mac

You need to ask this over at the Apple forums. It works in Adobe Acrobat and the free Adobe Reader.

It works with the desktop versions of Acrobat (All) and Reader (3-5, 11 and DC), PDF Expert on iOS, and a number of other non-Adobe PDF viewers, but certainly not Preview. Preview has awful support for PDF forms and irreparably damages them when it saves.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
