Acrobat ist printing in economy mode

New Here ,
Apr 20, 2023 Apr 20, 2023

Hi all,

I have an issue when printing a document out of Acrobat with my HP LaserJet 2055dn with PCL6 driver.. The problems happens with 3 different computers. When I print tht document, the printout looks like printed in economy mode and the font is rasterized. You can see smal black and white "bubbles". It looks grayish.

When I print a text in Word, the text / font is completely clean black.

When I print the PDF out of an browser e.g. Edge or Chrome, the printout is also ok.

So, I checked with different computers and different printer drivers. I studied hours the settings in Acrobat and tried our several thinks. Unfortunatelly without success.

I also "googled"  ... because google is my best friend 😉 ... so many times but couldn't find an answer or a similiar problem description.

Has anybody an idea what happens? How can I solve the issue and adjust the print result?

I would be very happy if you could help, solving my problem.

Thanks so much beforehand!

Cheers,
Markus

Hi @DrMaFu

I hope you're doing well despite the issue you're facing with printing from Acrobat DC. I understand how frustrating it can be to experience such problems.

To assist you with this, could you please provide me with the version of Acrobat DC you're currently using, as well as the firmware of your printer? This will help me identify any possible compatibility issues between the two.

To check the version of Acrobat DC, simply go to Help > About Acrobat. If you don't have the latest version (23.01.20143), you can try updating the application by going to Help > Check for updates and restarting your computer.

It's also important to check for any missing or pending updates for your printer driver and firmware, as these updates may help to resolve the printing issue you're experiencing.

You may also want to refer to this help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-pdf-printing-acrobat-reader.html for further troubleshooting tips.

Let us know how it goes

Amal

Dear Amal.
many thanks for your message.

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro, Continous Release Version 2023-001.20143, 64-Bit from my Creative Cloude Abonnement.

The problem with the bad printing (like eco mode) exists since many weeks / months.
The HP LaserJet P2055dn has the Firmware 20141201. Seems to be the last Firmware and printer is up to date.

The hint with driver update is something I have also in mind but why does the problems happens only in Acrobat and NOT in browsers like Edge or Chrome, or with Winword, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook etc... There the printer is working well. This is some fact really confusing me.

Regards,
Markus

Hi there,

Acrobat application keeps on updating  from time to time, and there are possibilities that the printer driver version is not in line with Acrobat; you may try updating the printer driver or removing it altogether, rebooting the computer, and reinstalling it from the manufacturer's website, and see if that works for you.
