Hi Adobe,
I don't know what happened with Acrobat Pro 2023, but its a nightmare of slow redraw and unusable page scrolling. If I open anything mildly hi-res (300pdi and up) at a larger format A2, A1 etc. its almost impossible to zoom in to a large detail or move about the page. This did not happen on the previous version that I was using Acrobat Pro 2020. What has happened? I need this program to be able to check large format jobs for print, currently it's unusable. I have to force quite after I do one zoom or it will beach ball for an eternity trying to redraw the image.
I'm on a Macbook Pro M1 Max, 64GB Ram, 1TB HD with plenty of space. Ventura 13.6.
Adobe Creative Cloud gives me no way to revert back to an older usable version. Please advise how I can select an older versionto install, as I cannot do my job with this program as it is. Please Help!
Many thanks,
GG.

The following helped with acrobat slowness on my Mac Studio M1 Max
go to Adobe Acrobat > Preferences > Page Display > Rendering > Uncheck 'Use page cache' > Click OK and reboot the computer once.

Very pleased turning off these options has solved the issue of redwaring when zooming in. this is in OSX 12.5 Monterey. Acrobat 24. 2015 27" iMac. Is odd as I had tried turing off the whole smoothing which ad not helped. But turning off the individual checkboxes has. I did find turing them on again caused the issue to return. Thank you.

Any news on the fix for this? Acrobat still unusable on any files over 7-10Mb. Works fine in previous versions on older Macs. I recommend people use Preview on their Macs until Adobe realise there's an issue.
Version: 2023.006.20380 on 2020 MacBook / 32Gb RAM / 500Gb SSD

Hi stevet97996728, I dont know if this will work for you but when I went to my preferences and set "Page Display -> Use Overprint Preview:" to "Always", the problem went away. To be sure, it hesitates. But then it shows the zoomed in area without further stalling or missing image chunks. Maybe this will work for you. Have a great day.

Thanks. I just tried this without any luck. Still having agonisingly slow redraws for any PDF over 7Mb, let alone the ones I need to view at over 300Mb. Only answer appears to be using alternative software for now.

Thats not even an option!
I work for a large printer. Overprint preview is something we have all are workstations set to and share with our customers in reviewing the PDF PROOF when sent to them.
We need to be able to see overprint situtions..

The setting is for Overprint Preview to always be on. I work for a large printer as well so I understand the need for overprint preview, I never entertained the idea of turning it off.

We are having the same issues with version 2023.006.20380 Not sure if there is a solution to this issue as we work on Mac Pro 2023 and it feels digusting to have paid so much and be using Adobe which seems to have hit the AI plateau and seems to be going downhill! Sorry for venting but it is unbelievable. Please Adobe hire some real world users to design your stuff.

Hi GG_Dynamix, I have the same issue - print production and Acrobat fainting every time I zoom or do something that requires a redraw. I dont know if this will work for you but when I went to my preferences and set "Page Display -> Use Overprint Preview:" to "Always", the problem went away. To be sure, it hesitates. But then it shows the zoomed in area without further stalling or missing image chunks. Maybe this will work for you. Have a great day.

Any news on the fix for this? Cannot view large format PDFs (or many others for that matter) so I can see that logo/pics will be hi-res enough for print @ 100%. Never had this problem previously; it's costing me hrs of lost time force quitting/restarting app etc... This is a very important, much needed fix for many Adobe users. Please help.

Just upgraded to this newer version before the holidays and it is driving me nuts. Please provide a means to back off this version and move to an older version that works until you're able to fix this.

Is there any resolution to these issues? I am having the same problems (Windows 10). I am constantly getting 'stuck' with the hourglass displayed and the "program not responding" message at the top. This happens when saving or printing and sometimes just when opening a pdf. It does not matter if the file is small or large. It is more than frustrating.

This problem has been around for almost half a year, and there are constant new issues with this software and no fixes on the horizon? It took months to get the damn page size back to always displaying, but the performance is still awful on files over 5mb, redraw takes forever IF it works at all, and now pitstop functions are regularly breaking the display in acrobat. Tons of people use this software for work every day and it just doesn't function correctly for a portion of the userbase? Ridiculous. Can't wait to read more canned responses on these issues.

Same issue here, on W10 22H2 this time.
Started with 32bit 2023 version, but even after all upgrades and hours of google'ing and turning off settings no improvements. I manually downloaded 64bit yesterday, removed 32bit and installed this simple 70kb technical drawing (single layer, A3 and some simple lines from CAD) is an instant freeze & crash.
Online Adobe reader opens it without a hitch, Edge no problem, but local it is a no go.
According to adobe CC I am fully updated.

I'm having the same problem across multiple users. It seems everyone who has been forced to upgrade has been unable to use the software. We're using edge and chrome unless we need to edit. If we need to edit, we're reverting back to old versions. I'd really appreciate an update if there is a better solution.
It seems that its been months and users are still complaining about the same problem.

this app has always been a cumbersome nightmare to use and does discredit to all the other adobe products which are awesome. this latest version is absolutely appaling. I shudder any time i need to use it and avoid it at all costs. it should be entirely scrapped and reworked into something useful

Same issue here with Win11 23H2 and Acrobat Pro version 2023.008.20458 64bit... very frustrating for multiple users!! I hope there's an update soon that resolves this. We find that the plugins effect MS Outlook operation too unless disabled since the most recent Acrobat update!
