Acrobat Pro DC won't open files after minutes of inactivity on macbook pro

I have a Macbook Pro 13" 2020

I have my business forms on Acrobat Pro Dc and often send files via email.

In the transition between altering the file, saving it, then sending it via email, Adobe stops opening any more files if I stop working on Adobe for even 2 minutes.

I have to close Adobe and reopen to access my files again.

Oddly, I can open folders fine, just won't open files.

No wheel of death, it just won't open the files.

It has been an annoyance for a few months now.

I haven't tested for the same issue on my wife's computer to see if it's an issue with Adobe or with my computer.

Please advise a solution.

Correct answer Hawkfreak

Thank you for trying the suggestion and sharing your observation.

We do have a Creative Cloud cleaner tool for the CC continuous product. But, it doesn't give the option to remove/uninstall a single application (e.g., Acrobat DC). Here, we are required to clean up Acrobat only.

The above cleaner works for both continuous and standalone so we can skip the warning message.

Since you have already removed and reinstalled the application, keep track of performance and let us know if that works.

Adobe uninstall and reinstall worked so far. Issue resolved.

My wife's 16" Macbook Pro works just fine so it must be my computer that has the issue, not Adobe. I'll try deleting and reinstalling the app. Any other recommendations are welcome.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your findings

When trying  to uninstall the app, Run this cleaner tool to remove the existing installer and application’s files traces:

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html

Download the Acrobat installer from here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

In addition to that, please do share the exact version of Acrobat you are working with.

Open Acrobat>click on Adobe Acrobat and then check the version.

Let us know if this works.

Thanks,

Akanchha
