Acrobat Pro - Editing images from within Acrobat

Hi everyone! I remember just few weeks ago being capable to edit images and make them ligher or darker as needed from within Acrobat pro just applying the following steps: I think it os not working anymore. Can someone help on this? Any idea why is not working anymore? I appreciate any input/advice!

1. Open the PDF document in Acrobat Professional.

2. Select the "Edit PDF" tool from the right-hand pane.

3. Click on the image you want to lighten.

4. Once the image is selected, you will see a "Format" tab appear in the right-hand pane.

5. Click on the "Format" tab, and then click on the "Adjust Color" dropdown.

6. Select "Brightness" from the dropdown.

7. Adjust the brightness slider to lighten the image to your desired level.

8. Click "OK" to apply the changes.

9. Save your document with the new, lighter image.

This is one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had with a piece of software. You can't change the contrast? I used a greyscale filter on Adobe Scan before finishing scanning the document. Only preceding pages were affected. Half my document is full color and low contrast. I bought Pro to fix this. But you can't.

The OP message is wrong, there has never been a “Format Tab” or “Adjust color” menu in Acrobat Pro.
Right-click on the image with the Edit tool and choose “Edit with Photoshop/Paint…" or any image editor available on your computer.
Once you've made your changes, save and close.

Expensive product. All these bells and whistles, but it can't do what my 1990s copier could do - lighten an image.

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

Could you please provide more details about your issue? Are you experiencing any problems while editing a PDF file in Acrobat? If possible, could you share a screenshot of the window where the options are missing? Additionally, are you using a Windows machine or a Mac, and what version are you running?

If you are using the Acrobat desktop version, please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20458 Planned update, Apr 15, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine and try editing the PDF.

Note: Acrobat is primarily a PDF editor, not a full image editor. You can resize, move, or replace images, but colour adjustments like brightness, contrast, or filters aren’t directly supported within Acrobat.

There is no Format Tab to the right (step 5). There is no "Adjust Color" Dropdown

Hi @roberto289004257uq2 ,

Usually, when something was working OK before it breaks could be related to something that changed during a system update. In which case, you should check the release notes for your current version to see if this is a known issue that was introduced via software updates.

Can you confirm in which version update of Acrobat Pro were you on before this problem happened?
