Acrobat pro won't open .pdf links

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro; Windows 11; & Chrome browser.  I recently started receiving the following message when clicking on a .pdf link in any application.  If I am able to download the pdf to somewhere (e.g., desktop), then click on the saved download the pdf will open, but not directly from the original link.  I've "repaired" the Acrobat install to no avail.  Any ideas on how to fix?

Just found this trying to resolve my own issue.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the adobe extension for chrome. This resolved the issue for me. The request that is bad is the extension trying to call adobe to run inside the tab and for some reason it's not running correctly. Maybe a chrome update?

Wishing you luck!

Update.....I just realized that I get that error message initially, but if I leave that tab open & go about about my work in other apps eventually the error message goes away & the pdf requested will open.  ???
