Acrobat read out loud not ready alt text

Morning. I've converted a word document into an accessible pdf. I've added alt text to the graphs in the document and checked all the tags, reading order etc. The read out loud works on the general document text and the title of the graphs but not on the graphs themselves. Whenever I click onto the graphs, the read out loud says "Blank" but the alt text popup box is showing me the alt text when I hover over it.

I've ran the accessibility check and its passed.

Can anyone help?

Correct answer Karl Heinz Kremer

The read out loud feature is not a screen reader that will give you access to all the accessibility features of a PDF file. You may want to use something like Jaws or the free NVDA software.

Thanks for your help Karl! It was driving me mad I couldn't get it to read out loud the alt text but could see it was there.
