Question

Acrobat Reader DC installer aggressively install McAfee, even when cancelling the install

Although this was in no way obvious when I downloaded the installer for the Acrobat Reader DC, apparently it came bundled with undesired McAfee products.

What is worse, when I proceeded to cancel the installation to avoid installation of those products, the installation of Acrobat itself was cancelled, but the unwanted bundled McAfee persisted in installing and even killing the installer was not an option to avoid the installation to complete.

This type of aggressive unwanted bundling is unacceptable. I've replaced installations of Acrobat Reader DC in our standard deployments to desktops across the business with a PDF reader that doesn't come with it. We will proceed to replace Adobe's product from existing installations as well - sadly that job will have to include finding and removing the McAfee products as well.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the unpleasant experience. As described, Acrobat Reader DC installer aggressively install McAfee.

Would you mind sharing the steps you did to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC application?

The Acrobat Reader installer comes with the optional offer for Mcafee Products with the option to disable their installation as shown in the screenshot below:
