Is there or will there be a stand alone version of Acrobat 2022 Standard desktop non subscription coming out soon?

I am aware (from public posts) that there is a continuing debate inside Adobe about whether to have a perpetual license version of Acrobat. The battle was won to get the release of Acrobat 2015, Acrobat 2017 and Acrobat 2020. Will there be another? I doubt Adobe could say, even if it wasn't a secret.

I don't have any insider information, but I think they probably will, even if just to placate their legacy customers. On the other hand, Acrobat is the only stronghold in this regard, I believe. No other Adobe application is still being offered as a perpetual license, so who knows...

Again thanks for all of your help and opinions.

I think they make a whole lot of money on the Subscription model that this will push them to end it when Adobe 2020 support ends.

I wouldn't mind doing the subscription route but I do not like the auto renew.

There is a non-subscription version of Acrobat already in existence. The current version is called Acrobat 2020. To get it follow the following instructions:

Go to the Adobe Products Page (https://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html) and search for "Acrobat".
At the top of the list you'll now see Acrobat Pro (or Standard) 2020. Click on the Buy button next to it. If you have a prior qualifying version change the "Type" drop-down to "License Upgrade". Otherwise leave it as "Full License".
Then select the other options (OS, Language, etc.) and complete the purchase. You'll get a full license, not a time-based subscription.

@Eric Dumas

@try67

Thanks for your responses.

Not really interested in the Acrobat 2020 version since the support for that is ending in about 2025.

Normally when a new desktop version comes out support is for 5 years.

Plus the price is up for the upgrade by about $30.00 US.

My current version is Acrobat Standard 2017 stand alone desktop.

Again thanks.

Well, that's the only option available to you. If you wait until the next version is released you might not be eligible for an upgrade any longer and will need to purchase a full license.

Hi,

We are not aware of Adobe's plans for the future, but I think, the subscription model is here to stay.

The model of bying a CD or downloading a perpetual licence is gone.

But, that is my own point of view
