I know several others have had a similar problem, but the error messages I have been getting are somewhat different:

Exit Code: 7

Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example, ERROR:

-------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------

- 0 fatal error(s), 3 error(s)

----------- Payload: Acrobat Professional 11.0.0.0 {23D3F585-AE29-4670-8E3E-64A0EFB29240} -----------

ERROR: Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\AcroPro.msi

ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Fatal error during installation.

MSI Error message: Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\AcroPro.msi

ERROR: Third party payload installer AcroPro.msi failed with exit code: 1603

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any suggestions?

Correct answer joefolz@jesuits.net

I decided to go ahead and install the trial version. However, when it was almost comlplete, the computer chimed, and I got the error message: Error 1316: A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\AcroPro.msi

Success at last! I went to the Microsoft Support Home, selected Windows and Windows 8. I typed C:\Windows\Installer in the search field, and the first of the hits that came up was a question from a person who could not find this folder. The answer from a Bob Oneill explained that this folder was in a special protected area of the computer and would not be visible even if the show hidden folders was enabled. To get to it you had to temporarily disable the user account control. Then you could do a one-time access of the folder. Thanks to having downloaded the trial installation files, I could copy the two files Kapil had indicated above into the folder. I then went to Adobe Application Manager, and the download and installation completed successfully. Bob Oneill has more detailed instructions in his post on the windows support site.

PS: A big thank you to Kapil for indicating the files that had to be copied.

Just an update in case of presence FrameMaker 12. Some of the users may find it helpful.

I recently experienced the same problem (same error code) and moving files to C:\windows\installer didn't worked for me.

In my case it was FrameMaker 12 'Adobe PDF Creation Add-On XI'.

This Add-On can be uninstalled directly from Windows 'Programs and Features'. Once removed from the System, Acrobat XI can be installed without the problems.

Hi Joe,

Please try the following:

1. Copy the AcroPro.msi file found on the installer to C:\windows\installer

2.Copy Data1.cab to C:\windows\installer

3.Run installation again

The INSTALLER folder could be hidden, you will have to enable show hidden files/folders and system files from tools>folder options

Please let me know if you will be able to install it successfully.

Thanks

Hi Kapil,

Thank you for your reply. However, I am unable to impliment the steps you indicate. First, I recently got a Creative Cloud membership, so I am doing the install through the Adobe Application Manager. It is a seamless process that does the download, extraction, and installation. I do not see a way to access the files you name. They are apparently removed when the failed installation completes.

Second, there is no C:\windows\installer folder. I am runnng Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. I do have Show hidden files and folders turned on. I checked my laptop, also running Windows 8 Pro, and there was no C:\windows\installer folder there either. I tried to create such a folder. I got a screen asking if I wanted to allow file operations to make changes on my hard drive. I clicked yes. I typed in the name of the new folder and pressed enter. The folder was not created. I did a search on installer and got a lot of hits. Most of them were in the C:\Program Files (x86) folder, most frequently in a subfolder with the name of the program being installed. For instance, there was an AcroPro.msi file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Setup Files\(and then a long string of numbers and letters.)

I should point out that AAM updated all my CS6 Design Premium programs, and at also installed another program with no difficulty. However, it does not recognize my Acrobat X Pro.

Might it work to download a trial version of Acrobat Pro XI and then tried to License and activate it with the Creative Cloud Serial number?

Thanks,

I did download the trial version of Acrobat XI, but when I entered the Creative Cloud serial number at installation, it said it was not a valid serial number.

Sigh!
