I've just installed Actobat 8.0 Pro on my laptop and desktop. It works fine on my laptop but once I open it, it closes automatically in about 10 secondes. Tried uninstalling it and installing in again but nothing's soveled that problem. Please help me with this issue.

My desktop has:
Intel Pentium D 820
1G Memory
Nvidia quadro FX 540

For the problem you facing for MS Project try turning off the 3D view for GANTT chart ( Tools > Options > View)and then try to convert to PDF.

Yea, same here, the 'adobe_00080000_tsf.data' file just keeps coming back like the plague.

In fact - this is how I broke a working installation on a second PC on which Adobe 8 Pro was working fine. I proceeded to RENAME the 'C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\adobe_00080000_tsf.data' to *.backup. I didn't restart the computer at that point, but I did restart Adobe at which point it proceeded to create a new 'adobe_00080000_tsf.data' file, and then closed after 10 seconds (mind you, this installation was working fine). At this point, I closed Adobe, deleted the file it created, renamed the original one BACK, and re-opened Adobe...and to my suprise, same problem - closes after 10 seconds.

It all seems to boil down to this magical file, as well as 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared\FLEXnet Publisher\FNPLicensingService.exe'. Please, someone get this figured out =(

Deleting the adobe_00080000_tsf.data file isn't having any effect for me. I back it up and remove it, but Acrobat just closes a few seconds after I start up and the file comes back. The program was working fine for several weeks and just started doing this today. Repairing the installation did nothing.

There is no "c:\documents and settings" on vista

Thanks Jeff Moran. Your solution worked for me (Acrobat Professional version 8 retail on Vista):

    1) Renamed C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\adobe_00080000_tsf.data with a .backup suffix.
    2) validated that "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\acrobat.exe" had a window through the firewall
    2) started Acrobat (without recycling vista), and received activation dialog...
    3) re-activated acrobat...

This also resolved the "missing acrobat printer adapater" problem for me.

If Adobe would apply greater effort to stay current with the MS Vista and Office releases, I'd be a happier customer. Given that Office 2007 permits save-as-pdf with bookmark indexing, Acrobat's value proposition is eroding for me. However, I'm still committed to the product and Adobe.

    Thanks again Jeff.

OK...well my Acrobat 8 hasn't closed abruptly since I reformatted by hard drive last December, but just now I *did* get an activation error (after having it installed and working fine for over 3 months now).

The window that popped up is something I've never seen before. It said "Temporary Activation...You have 5 days left to re-activate this software. This product's activation status is invalid or broken..."

I immediately pressed the "Re-Activate" button and within a couple of seconds it apparently re-activated and everything is fine.

Not sure why this happened or if it will happen again, but I'll keep my eye on it.

"Adobe employee" rather than "Adobe spokesperson." Kudos to employee; no kudos to employer. Employee working hard to solve the problem, employer working hard to improve golf swing, customer left with unusable software. I'm not bitter, it's just the world we live in now.

    That's perhaps a little unfair...
You have the very rare benefit of an Adobe employee overtly contributing to this thread, and risking his email address being deluged, and asking for participants to help replicate the problem.

Corporate mentality. They've got the cash, so who cares?

Why hasn't anyone given Adobe hard times for such a SERIOUS problem?
Is Adobe even interested in solving this problem?
