add hyperlink in plain acrobat

Is it possible to add a hyperlink (to a webpage, not just email address) in Acrobat? or via any free software? I'm trying to convert a .doc to .pdf (with functional links, including web pages as well as email addresses) and every way I try will retain a hyperlink with visible email address, but no .doc-linked email address, and no web url. Is this just not do-able any longer?

I missed the change to a zillion new forms of Acrobat; "DC" must mean Document Cloud?  I try not to use the cloud, though that's a losing cause. But I don't have any paid Acrobat products anymore. Is it necessary to use paid products to insert a hyperlink now?

You add hyperlinks much like any previous version of Acrobat. Tip: to get to the link tool, first select the Edit tool.

Tip 2: you must use the locally installed Acrobat, not the simple cloud service. Tip 3: with Acrobat you can also create hyperlinks in Word and use the Acrobat ribbon in Word to make a PDF with the link.

DC means Document Cloud, but it's a misleading name. It is not a document-based tool, but an application that runs locally on your computer. If you don't want to you don't have to use any cloud features and still make the most of it.

And yes, to add hyperlinks to a PDF (using Adobe software) you have to pay for it. That's always been the case.

With Acrobat Pro DC you can add hyperlinks.
