Adobe Acrobat 2017: sporadically not printing documents

We just switched from Adobe Acrobat XI to Adobe Acrobat 2017 at Windows 7 x64. What now happens is that Adobe Acrobat 2017 sporadically is not printing documents. When clicking print button, nothings happens and no error message appears. we have to close the application, open the document again and sometimes it works then. This happens with different documents and different printers. Latest update is already installed (17.011.30066).

When printing is not working, opening the printer settings windows is also not working.

Printing the document with Adobe Reader XI always works fine.

Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks for your help analyzing the problem, Abambo. As Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat XI are working perfectly on the same systems, there muste be some changes in Adobe Acrobat 2017 regarding the print function which conflicts with out environment (all are virtual Windows 7 machines. The affected print queues are both network and virtal pdf creation printers. I will test if non-virtual systems are also affected.

Hello kvbwtest,

we have the same problem in the exact same constellation. How do you solve this issue afterwards?

Thank you in advance,

best regards

Yes, it happens on all our computers running Adobe Acrobat 2017. It doesn't matter which default printer is set. It happens with completely different printer models which rely on different printer drivers.

Network printers or directly connected printers? (I'm running out of questions, and still I do not have the slightest idea what happens...)

When one file does not print, any other file that already did print properly will not be printed anymore until the application is restarted. After a restart of the computer or the application, files that did not print will be printed again. Files that do not print on one computer do print on any other computer at the same time.

(Just asking a bunch of questions that may help you to find the problem...)

And I assume that this happens on all of your computers! Or is it dependant on a specific situation? When you say "different printers" is that to be interpreted as "different printers from different manufactures" or at least "different printer models"?

Are the drivers up to date? Please do not trust automatic updates. Go looking actively for new drivers. Are the correct drivers installed for the correct printer?

Does this happen systematically, meaning when a file does not print, it doesn't print also on another computer or after a restart? When one file does not print, can you test a file where you know it printed before?
