Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard constantly freezes

I have had this software for a long time, maybe 10 years, since I had Windows Vista 2 on my previous computer.  Now I have Windows 10 on my new computer, which I have had for three or four years.  It used to work well, but recently it constantly freezes when I read documents, etc.  It is simply impossible to use it anymore.  Windows operating system suggested to run it in compatibility mode with Windows Vista Service Pack 2.  But it hasn't helped.  If I don't run it in compatibility mode, it displays a message that Adobe is not responding.  In compatibility mode, it simply freezes.

acrobat 9 isn't compatible with win 10 so you can expect problems.

that said, you can try:

1. reset your preferences -   https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1595848?start=0&tstart=0

2. after securing your serial number, uninstall (using the control panel), clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs and restart your computer.  then reinstall (using compatibility mode) and activate with your serial number.

I tried everything that you said twice.  It didn't help at all.  My Acrobat Standard 9 is completely out of use; it freezes just after a few seconds. Every time that I open it, it freezes and I can't even close it, so I have to close it using task manager.  It is possible an update to Windows 10 has caused this problem; it used to work well with Windows 10.

because it's incompatible there's not necessarily a solution (other than using a compatible os with acrobat 9, or an acrobat version compatible with win 10).
