Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard disappeared

My Adobe Acrobat Reader DC just updated to a 64 bit version and the process seems to have deleted my Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard, which I use to update pdf's.  I want to get it back.

I don't think one could activate it even if one could install it. The old activation servers have been retired.

I just had the same issue.  Decided to try the Free Trial of Adobe Pro.  Didn't really like it, and canceled within a couple of hours.

Then realized my previously purchased Adobe Pro 9 is gone!!!

No longer have the CD or serial # (dissapeared in a move).

Anybody find a solution to this?  I tried the FTP approach suggested by billmez, but all i see are patches, not the Pro 9 app itself?

Help?!?

Acrobat 9 is extremely old. If you don't have the setup.exe for it anymore, you won't be able to reinstall it, I'm afraid.

The installation of Acrobat Reader DC 32 bit doesn't removes the files of Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard.

May be when you install the 64 bit version.

Then it must have been the Grinch dressed as Acrobat Reader DC because only Adobe updates would mess with it.

Has anyone successfully reinstalled Acrobat 9? If so, then how?

I followed all of the tips listed above and was still unsuccessful in getting Acrobat 9 to reinstall.  Contrary to comments by Radzmar, above, I had been running Acrobat 9 with every version of Windows, including the most recent versions of Windows 10, in parallel with Reader, with no ill affects.  I finally bit the bullet and purchased Acrobat 2020.  The Edit features and interface have been complete reorganized to the point that it is no longer intuitive where to find specific features.  One that I use often is the Snapshot too.  I challenge you to find it in the new program -- it's there, but nowhere obvious.

Another major drawback of losing Actrobat 9, is that it will export a PDF as a JPG file without argueing about it.  The 2020 version will not perform thjat step if the file is locked.  So, you have to print it and then scan it back in.  I'm looking for a non-Adobe reader that will allow export at this time.  A waste of time and money.

I may be contacting our state attorney general's office as this was a electronic theft/break-in of my computer.  I'm wondering if it will count as hacking?  A product I owned/licensed/paid for was removed from my computer without permission or a requesdt to confirm the action.  No difference in the end result than from a ransomware attack.  They will "give it back" (not really) by taking $299 from me.

They also closed my "case" on this issue without resolving it.

Yes, deleted mine too.  Which yes, it is theft of course.  The least Adobe could have done is pop a warning that my paid Acrobat 9 was to be deleted, then I would abort that process.

If you will first delete Acrobat DC, then Acrobat 9 will reinstall OK (no updates however).  The browsers show PDF anyway, even from local PDF files.

Will it automatically re-install Acrobat 9, or are you saying that removing DC will put my Acobat 9 back?

No, you will have to do the reinstall of Acrobat 9, but if Acrobat DC is first removed, it should reinstall OK.

Acrobat 9 ist very, very old and not officially compatible with current versions of Windows 10 or 11. Support has stopped already 8 years ago in 2013. Adobe also doesn't support a parallel installation of Reader and Acrobat, because of possible side effects. It might work, but doesn't have to, as you can see now. So, you can try to reinstall Acrobat 9 with Windows compatibility mode after installing Reader. If you don't have any DVD or setup.exe available you can check, if the Windows recovery has created a snapshot from before the update. This depends on your system settings.

Not true. My acrobat 9 was working with Windows 10 Pro perfectly. It got wiped out yesterday by downloading Acrobat reader to replace a defective Acrobat Reader which refused to work, just two days ago, claiming an invalid plugin. I think Adobe just didn't want me to use a paid for program so I could buy a subscription.

Good news! Don't forget to run all the updates in-order. My installation is very stable, no need for Reader.

Billmez, I thought I had found your infolink for the updates but I was wrong. Would it be possible for you to resend it or point me in the right direction? Thank you.
