Adobe Acrobat DC - Helvetica/Arial Font Issue

Hello All,

I have a bizzare situation going on with my machine and since it ultimately affects my PDF edits I thought I would start here.

I have some reports, etc that I print (forms are created with Arial font) to PDF files.  I then go into the PDF and when I go to edit, the font is showing as Helvetica.  Trying to edit this gets really messy and even trying to change the text to Arial becomes a huge mess or unrecognized characters.

I had a couple of other people in the office try and duplicate this and when they follow the same steps their texts comes over as Arial...hence they don't have the same issues.

Another weird part to this is if I look in the Excel (365) I don't see Helvetica in the fonts but if I look in Outlook it shows in there.  In the 'Fonts' folder, it does not exist.  I also have looked in the registry and under 'font substitutions' there is a key value to replace helvetica with arial.

I'm kind of at a loss as to where else to look or how to fix this problem...and it truly is a problem!

Correct answer Chaase

Sometimes I think it helps to speak out loud!  I figured out what was happening...The program I am using has two places to select the printing method.  The one that caused this issue was still set to CuteFTP vs. Adobe PDF.  As soon as I changed it, things are performing as they should!

Hi

The best way to fix the problem is to use any typeface that is above the line.
