Adobe Acrobat Forces me to Sign Out of all Adobe Apps just to view PDFs

I have paid subscriptions to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.  So I am signed into Adobe on my device.

However, when I open the free version of Adobe Acrobat on my device, just to view a PDF.  I am forced to SIGN OUT of everything, just to view a PDF.  This does not make sense?

No I do not want a free trial turning into a paid subscription of Adobe Acrobat just to view PDFs.

Is there a workaround for this?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. I understand how inconvenient this situation must be, and I’m here to help clarify and assist.

Adobe applications like Photoshop and Illustrator, which you have subscriptions for, are linked to your Adobe ID. Similarly, Adobe Acrobat (even the free version) also requires a sign-in to access certain features, even for viewing PDFs. The behavior you’re describing—being prompted to sign out of other apps when accessing Acrobat—can occur if multiple Adobe IDs are being used on the same device or if the application is unable to verify your subscription properly.

To address this issue:

  1. Check the Adobe ID in Use: Ensure you are using the same Adobe ID across all Adobe applications, including Acrobat. Using the same ID ensures seamless access to all your Adobe services.

  2. Update the Application: Ensure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat installed. Updates often resolve account and performance issues.

  3. Sign In Again: If prompted, sign out of all Adobe applications, then sign back in with the Adobe ID linked to your subscriptions. This will sync your account across devices and apps.

  4. Manage Device Sign-ins: If you’ve exceeded the device limit for your subscription, Acrobat might prompt you to sign out of other devices. Visit the Adobe Account Management page to review and manage activated devices.

If you continue to experience this issue after following these steps, let us know, and we’d be happy to investigate further.

Hi Amal

I have signed out of all apps on my device, and logged in using a single email ID (which has subscriptions to Photoshop and Illustrator).  This has not solved the problem, whenever Acrobat is opened on my device, it asks me to sign up for a trial and start a subscription, when I decline, it shuts down Acrobat.  There is no way around this from all the options presented on the Acrobat popup.

Please let me know how this can be resolved?

Gurpreet

Could you open the pdf through either Illustrator or Photoshop since both allow you to save pdfs? On a Mac I would try a drag and drop onto one or the other.
