Adobe Acrobat gives error after booting pc

Whenever I startup my computer I get an error from Acrobat Reader saying 'Acrobat quit unexpectedly. Click 'Learn more' for possible fixes.

I've done several things right now trying to fix the issue:

  • I've tried repairing Acrobat with the repair function within Acrobat itself
  • I've tried reinstalling Acrobat ( during the uninstallation progress i also deleted anything to do with Adobe in the regedit )
  • The program is currently not running in Compatibility Mode
  • Launching acrobat on another user is not possible due to restrictions from my company on my pc

I found possible solutions on Troubleshooting Acrobat crash on launch. (adobe.com) but the issue i've got is that the error only pops up when i boot or reboot my computer. If i click the error message away i can use Acrobat like normal.

I'm not sure if this is a known issue, if it is, i'd love to hear a solution for it

Correct answer Amal.

Hi there,

The new version 23.08.20555 of Acrobat is now available addressing the fix for the issue.

Please update the application from the help menu > check for updates and reboot the computer once.

You may also download the patch manually from the link https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

This just started happening to me as well.

I went into the Menu > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) and unchecked Enable Protected Mode at startup.

Rebooted and all is well again. I only did this today, so not sure if it's a long term solution.

If this works it is a solution that makes me cry.

Opening the door for malytius software (other than that for adobe off course) can not be a solution.
