Adobe Acrobat is NOT closing immediately

We have multiple users of Adobe Acrobat reported to us that their PDF files are not closing immediately when opened.

When they close the PDF documents, it freezes up for 3 to 5 seconds before closing.

We've found out that it is waiting for the "7-day trial" banner at the bottom left of the application before it closes.

Once that banner shows up, the file can be closed immediately.

But if not showing up, the PDF files will freeze for 3 to 5 seconds before it closes up.

How do we get rid of that "7-day trial banner" without signing in?

Some of the users are annoyed that they need to wait for that banner to show up within 3 to 5 seconds before they can close PDF files quickly.

I have found the solution. I went to my settings in Adobe Reader. There is an option to revert. It takes you off the new adobe experience.

I can confirm this is also happening on my PC. Win 11. Updating (was already up to date) and repairing made no effect. Also Generative AI was alread disabled in preferences.

I've observed that the shared video shows Adobe Acrobat  using the New Desktop Interface Experience.

 

As I've read in other discussions, Since the New Acrobat Experience is still on an experimental phase (and most new features are not fully functional yet), maybe opting out of the New Acrobat Desktop Experience (reverting to the old Acrobat interface), could remedy the current issue.

I read somewhere but cannot find it: there is a bug in Adobe Reader that it does some online things after starting up, and you can disable the new behaviour by a registry entry.
Effect: I can start the program without a file and close it immediately. But if I open a PDF file using the reader and close the reader immediately I have to wait for about 5 seconds till the window closes.

Unfortunately, this registry key does not help with this annoying 5 seconds delay.

I attached a screen record of what is actually happening

As you can see on the video, when we first open the PDF file, we are closing it immediately, but after we click the close (X) button, it freezes for a few seconds.

The second time I open the file, I wait for the "7-day trial" at the bottom left, then I click the close button and it closes immediately.

So, again, we have to wait for that "7-day trial" banner to show up before we can close the PDF file quicker.
It is happening to some of our users in different companies in multiple locations including us when we test it.

It is happening to the users with latest version of Adobe Reader

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

 

What is the version of the OS and the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.02.20687 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
 
Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

If it doesn't work, Would you mind collecting the Adobe CC logs https://adobe.ly/4bit7qm , Procmon logs (Win Only)  https://adobe.ly/4bm1HQA  and Crash/freeze logs https://adobe.ly/4biCSF2 share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.
