Adobe Acrobat No Longer Allows Drag & Drop Files in the Request E-Signatures Feature.

New Here ,

Under more options, Files, the box is visible and is labeled 'drag & drop files here', but when I attempt to drop a file, it just opens in a new Adobe Tab. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi @danetteg79966700,

Thanks for reaching out.

I understand how frustrating it is when a familiar workflow suddenly stops working. The “drag & drop files here” area in Request E-Signatures should still accept files, so this sounds like unexpected behavior rather than an intentional block.

The “drag & drop files here” function should still be available, so we’d like to identify where it’s breaking for you.

Are you accessing Request E-Signatures through the Acrobat desktop application or via a web browser?

· If you're using the Acrobat desktop, please ensure you’re on the latest version (Help > Check for updates), then restart Acrobat and try again. If the issue persists, try signing out/in (Help > Sign Out) or testing in a new user profile.

· If using a browser, try clearing your cache and cookies or testing in a different browser to rule out browser-handling conflicts. Some browsers handle PDF drags differently and may open them instead of uploading them.

Once we know your setup, we can suggest the most effective next steps or escalate this to the product team if needed.

Best regards,
Tariq | Adobe Community Team

Thank you for the prompt response.

I am using the desktop version, not web. I have ensured that no updates are pending, computer has been restarted.

Correct, the “Add Files” option is the only option to add files – the “drag & drop” function is what is not working any longer.

Hi danetteg79966700,

Thank you for the information.

Could you please confirm whether you are using the new or classic version of Acrobat? The screenshot above shows the Acrobat Sign classic version UI.

If you are using the classic version of Acrobat, please try enabling the new version to test. See if you can drag and drop the files in the new version. After that, you may switch back to the classic version.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

It does the same thing for us. Looking forward for a solution. Thanks.

Hi @defaultcbv50f9xwuu1

Sorry for the troubled experience, and thanks for reaching out.
Could you please answer what @Meenakshi Negi, has requested? It would help us understand the issue better.

And please confirm whether you are using the new or classic version of Acrobat?

Best regards,

We tested this using both the new and classic versions of Acrobat, and the results are the same. When dragging a file into the “Drag more files here” area of the Request E-signature form, the file opens in Acrobat instead of attaching.

This functionality was working correctly before updating from Acrobat Version 2023.008.20470 to 2025.001.20531.

Thanks, Eric
