Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 - I get a "The installation failed" message at the Summary.

Message says to contact software manufacturer for assistance. I am using OSX El Capitan 10.11.6 on my MacBook Pro. Just purchased Student Edition on CD for which I have obtained serial number. Drive reads CD ok. Acrobat Installer.pkg loads ok. I enter serial number when prompted. The installer goes through the entire process with no apparent issue and I obtain the above message at the end. I have had no issue installing other software on the computer.

Hello ds20010779

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, you are not able to install Acrobat Pro 2017 on Mac machine, is that correct?

As per the description, it seems that few leftover files of Acrobat(old version) or Reader are causing the problem. Please reboot the machine once after closing all the installation process.

Go to Activity Monitor, and close all Adobe related tasks if they are open.

Then navigate to System and User Library i.e. ~/Library/ApplicationSupport and /Library/ApplicationSupport and Trash the Acrobat folders.

Empty the Trash folder. Then trash the Acrobat folders from Utilities and Application menu.

Restart the machine again. Then install the Acrobat Pro from the following URL Download Acrobat 2017 Link: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/acrobat-2017-downloads.html

Use the serial key for activation.

Hope this helps, and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

I have the same problem with a Mac M3 with OS 14.4.1. This installation process is always failing. How can I solve this nightmare?

Hi there

Please run the Acrobat cleaner tool https://adobe.ly/4bXR1b1, reboot the computer and reinstall the application using the direct link https://adobe.ly/3KsHA7P and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi, yes, I am unable to install Acrobat Pro 2017 on my Mac machine.

I folIowed the procedure you described above, the first part of the installation process was much quicker than before. However, the installation seems to slow down drastically during the "Running package scripts..." part of the installation. Says "Install time remaining: Less than a minute," but is still running after 10 minutes.

I removed all Adobe and Acrobat folders and apps as you outlined above.
