Adobe acrobat pro DC comments viewer not showing highlight colour.

New Here ,
Nov 02, 2020 Nov 02, 2020

Hello all, I recently reinstalled Adobe acrobat pro DC. When highlighting documents, previously the highlights were showing in the comments bar on the side with the text highlighted and the colour used to highlight.

After resinstalling, when reviewing the same pdf document the comments bar shows the text which has been highlighted but now does not show the colour of the highlights. I am able to filter the comments via highlighted colours but cannot see the colours. I have tried to re-install again and play around with the preferences but I cannot get it bavk to showing the colour of the highlights.

Any ideas? Thanks

Hi,
Could you please share the snapshot of the issue?
Also, please let us know the current version and the version of Acrobat you were earlier using where you were seeing the colour in comment viewer.

Regards,
Arvind

Hello the version is 2020.013.20064 Adobe Acrobat Pro DC - it is the same version where the colour of the highlighted text was in the comments pain before re-installation. See attached screen shot, the greyed out highlighter icon used to show the colour of the highlighted text. I am able to filter the colours manually with the filter tool so the colours are being recognised but for some reason not showing up. Capture.JPG

Hi ,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Could you please provide us the below info to further narrow down the issue :

1. Could you provide us with a snapshot of your preferences . The preferences can be seen using the keyboard shortcut (ctrl + K) or by selecting the Commenting Preferences option using the three dot menu next to filter button

2. Are you working on a review file or a local PDF ?

3.Are you not observing the highlighted color in the document or the comment pane ?

4. Is your issue seen only when the filter is applied or without the filter as well ?

Answering the above would help us to reproduce the issue as currently we are unable to replicate the issue at our end. If possible, could you please attach a video of the issue or mention the exact reproducible steps.

Regards

Hello, thanks you for your reply.

1. see attached snapshot of preferences

pref.JPG

2. I am working on a local PDF on the harddrive on this computer.

3. I am not observering the colour of the highlight in the highlighter icon in the comment pain. I can see the colour on the text. See attached snapshot, the highlighted colours used to appear in the highlighter icon in the comment pane. I have circled it in red on the snapshot.  The colour of the highlight no longer shows in this icon in the comment pane section. This is really annoying.

4. I can filter the comment pane via the colours but the highlighter icon in the pane still does not show the colour.

Hi ,

Thanks for your reposnse on my queries above. Your valuable feedback helps us in improving our product.

The highlight icon in the comments pane is constant and does not change with the color of the highlight annot in the document. I can see the same in the previous build also.

Thank you for bringing this to our notice and I do understand this is a cause of concern for you , hence have reached out to our team to include this as a feature in one of the upcoming releases. The team is currently preoccupied with prior planned high priority items. However, we’ll have it in our radar and might revisit at an appropriate time in future.

Regards

Thanks for your response.

That is very odd because before I re-installed the software the colours were definitely showing in the highlighter icon as I annotated in the picture.

@Humza5C4F

I agree with you, this feature definitely existed in the past, I also lost it on my current version.

@Only Mehak

"The highlight icon in the comments pane is constant and does not change with the color of the highlight annot in the document. I can see the same in the previous build also."

Pardon me please to disagree on this, but I had previously this feature (highlighted text in comments pane showing in colours, paler but the same as those of the document).
When I quit my company in 2019, I bought the exact same version (Acrobat Pro 2017) as the one I had there as I liked it so much.

If you know of any setting / parameter somewhere that could bring us the colours back (reminds me of an old Kodak advert in France: http://www.culturepub.fr/?p=8787), I'd be more than grateful 🙂

Thanks in advance & best regards.
