Adobe Acrobat Pro X keeps crashing after startup

Hello,

I have installed Adobe Acrobat Pro X from the CS6 suite onto my MacBook Pro running High Sierra.

Each time I open Adobe it crashed after about six to eight seconds.

I've tried to quickly press the Updates button but receive the error "Cannot connect to Adobe update server. Please verify that you are connected to the internet and check for updates again. Error 1042"

I have verified that I am connected to the internet and can access webpages.

Not sure what to do, and Adobe chat will not provide support.

Thanks,

SIMPLE HACK:  Turn off Wifi/Internet connection.

I had same problems with Adobe crashing after 15 seconds here, starting early 2020.  I tried everything too (re-install, upgrades, etc = all failed attempts.).  I wondered if Acrobat was crashing because it was online, so I turned off my Wifi AirPort.  I was then able to open my .pdf, make changes and save it without any hiccups.  Just my $.02 friends.  Good luck!

SOLVED - My CS6  Acrobat 10  is terminated by Adobe within several seconds after startup.  When I disconnect from the Internet the program runs fine.  The issue is that Adobe terminates my legally licensed software. Support calls to Adobe result in their push for me to pay for CC Acrobat.

When I told them I wouldn't upgrade and paid for the perpetual license, they took me step-by-step through a removal process with Adobe CC and products cleaner.   Big waste of time and frustrations with Adobe.  I found Acrobat to be changed to read-only and my permissions were stripped.  With a lot of hassle, I was able to physically delete all Adobe products and had to manually remove registry entries for Adobe that were not removed with their CC cleaner, nor the program manager removal.    After removing all things Adobe, I reinstalled CS6 Master Collection and had the same issue with Acrobat.

Adobe can fix it on their end or identify how to disable the internet net communications that terminate the CS6 Acrobat as if it were an illegal copy.

MarkAbrams, did you put on the 10.1.16 patch which has solved this for most other people?

Warning, scammers may contact you privately pretending to be Adobe staff. Adobe will never send you a private message asking you to email an account that isn't @adobe.com, or use Skype. Adobe never ask you for their password. These scammers want your Adobe info, credit cards, your money and control of your computer, please take care.

Try these steps(for Mac):

1. Move the cache.db file from the library to the desktop.

2. Close the application, then reopen it and enter your serial key into it.

3. Rename the OOBE folder in the library to OOBE.old

4. Download and install the Adobe application manager and then run Acrobat.

Hope this helps!

Regards.

The updates are available here, if you know what version you currently have: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/mac/10.x/
