Adobe Acrobat Reading Order & Tagging Bugs

New Here ,
Mar 04, 2025 Mar 04, 2025

I'm working on a 30+ page doc and have to manually tag it. First, it won't let me work on the entire doc at one time without glitching. It won't let me change the reading order. Because of this, I'm working on each page individually and will merge them at the end (silly that I have to do this in the first place).  Second, the more tags I add to a doc, the more likely it is that it will glitch out. I was tagging a Table of Contents page and it's messed up the reading order audibly, but not technically. The reading order AND the tags show they're nested and ordered correctly. However, when I read the page as a whole, it's skipping entire groups of tags. It was working fine until my last group of tags. Why is this so buggy? Is there a fix? My company pays for Adobe Suite. It's 2025, it should not be doing this still when it's obvious it's been an issue for years.

@Heidi31321447zawk when I read the post, you wrote: 'My company pays for Adobe Suite' — Adobe Suite is the older versions of CS which has been discontinued in 2012.  Adobe transitioned to its Creative Cloud (CC) subscription model since then. So, in this case, your company should be using updated software which likely is causing those issues, because, I don't experience the tagging issues, and I use this for a 48 page document to a 96 page document with no issues.

Overall, tagging, especially in complex documents with tables, images, and delicate layouts, is resource-intensive. Depending on your computer hardware, on some computers, Acrobat might struggles with managing these resources in large documents, leading to glitches and instability. I would c
lose other applications to free up system resources, turn off any streaming app and increase Acrobat's memory allocation (if possible).
