Users are experiencing an issue where attempting to edit PDFs causes the file to corrupt. Adobe scans the document then prompts the user with An Unknown Error Has Occured. When done the file appears to be the opposite of what you would want, Text is gone and only large shapes and graphics are left ghosting on the screen.
What I have done to troubleshoot so far.
Uninstalled Adobe DC
Reinstalled
Updated computer and Restart
Export to Post Script and Create PDF from file
Exported to PDF from Preview then opened in Adobe

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described, the users are unable to edit the PDF.
Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive, please download it to your computer locally and then try to edit.
What is the workflow/steps the users are doing to edit the PDF file?
What is the version of the Acrobat DC the users are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure they have the recent version 21.11.20039 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.
As you have already tried couple of troubleshooting steps with no luck, please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...
You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.
Regards
Amal

Hi Amal,
I will try the troubleshooting you listed and get back to you. Clear preferences and a new admin account (these users have admin privilages too)
All PDF files we have tried are doing the same thing not just one file.
The workflow is opening the pdf and selecting the edit tool box and once the PDF scans it becomes corrupted.
Adobe DC is up to date according to Creative Cloud but I will double check the version when I call the user.

Hi Amal I have done all of the steps listed above with no luck. I confirmed Adobe is on the version you mentioned and checked for updates just in case.
I have narrowed down the issue to PDFs that are scans and or not editable by default.
It does not work if I scan it with OCR first either. So something is wrong with this version of adobe and mac os or the functionality to scan non editable PDFs is broken.
