Adobe intermittently freezes when text callout inserted

Adobe DC is freezing (maybe 50% of the time) when I insert a new text callout into a pdf document and double click to start typing text into the callout. I then shut down Adobe, reopen the document and try again to type into the text callout. Sometimes this works on the first attempt. Other times the program will freeze again and I have to repeat the process 3 or 4 times before it works. Any suggestions???
