If you open PDF files from within the Adobe internal file explorer the files will not show up under “recent files” when you try to attach in Outlook. In outlook when you click “insert”, “Attach File” then look under “Recent Items” the list shows all recently opened items EXCEPT pdf’s. (All PDF’s are missing) This issue was a problem a couple of years ago but this seems to be a very recent change or issue.
Cause (as I’ve identified it)
If you open the PDF using windows explorer instead the files do appear in the recent file list. (see below)
After opening from Windows Explorer the file shows up in recent items list

I ran a complete uninstall along with the ACRO tool to remove any leftover data. Did not help.

Hi Hello
Fellow Adobe Users experiencing the same problem.
I found a small fix to help a little.
As soon as you save the file, before closing it, go to menu, then windows and open in new window.
This then shows up in the recent drop down files making it a little easier to attach as quick as possible.
Until Adobe finds a resolve

At my company we have folders inside of folders inside of folders inside of folders! What I've been doing is saving one copy where it's supposed to go (inside the client folder) and then I save a second copy somewhere easy to find so I can attach it more quicky without having to dig in to so many other folders to find the official PDF copy. It's a small extra step but it's better than having to fish it out of the folders insdie of folders inside of folders inside of... you know where I'm going with this lol.

Try my suggestion ... its working for me now. print to adobe pdf rather than saving.

I have another suggestion - just worked for me ... but lets see...
so when saving, use the print to Adobe or print to Microsoft to PDF and it shows up.
so the Adobe Save or Save As is the feature not working 100%

This worked for me! Still an annoying extra step, but so much better than digging through a gazillion folders!

Both the Print to Adobe & Microsoft to PDF options lose several read-write functionality features; that is not an option for us. You can no longer higlightlight easily, copy & paste out of, etc. The Save as PDF is the only option for us.

EDITMICRO, you've nailed it. The Adobe Print to PDF option is working for our organization too. I am happy that I found this thread! Thank you!!!
