Adobe PDF writer on a Mac

New Here ,

Hi,

Ive been trying to print seperated files to pdf writer so that I get a pdf file for each color plate. This is so I can send files to a screen printing company that requires this. In the past it used ot be easy but after talking with Adobe, apparently PDF writer no longer works on Apple products. This applies to Acrobat and Illustrator.

Is this true and if so is there an easy workaround?

Im told it does work on PC base Adobe products, not Apple. That seems counter intuitive.

Thanks!

Mitchell

Yes, it's true, and there is no workaround. This is actually due to Apple's policy against virtual printers.

You can use the built-in function in Acrobat to create a PDF file from various formats, but there's no generic "PDF printer", like there is on Windows.

Thanks for the input! At least I know im not crazy. Is there a way you would suggest creating individual files for each plate in either AI or Acrobat? For instance a cmyk file that would yield a C-file, M-file, etc.

I would ask in the Illustrator forums.
