Hi,

I got a issues when trying to enable a PDF form for Reader, an error message appeared "This document could not be Reader Enabled".

Update your Acrobat Pro DC to the latest. There was an update towards the end of last year to stop this.

++ Adding to the correct suggestion by JR Boulay 

Adobe Acrobat uses a certificate issued by 'Adobe Root CA' to sign Reader Extended PDFs. This certificate can no longer be used to create new Reader Extended PDFs post its expiry on January 7, 2023. The November 2022 update of Adobe Acrobat (Continuous and Classic track) creates Reader Extended PDFs using a new certificate issued by ‘Adobe Root CA 2’. Adobe recommends users update to the latest version of Acrobat (November 2022 update or later) to continue using this functionality post-January 7, 2023.

Please update the application to the latest version, 22.3.20281 (Mac) or 22.3.202082 (Win) and reboot the computer once. Go to Help > Check for updates.

Any suggestions for a older computer running 10.13.6 that cannot update to the latest version of Acrobat? Please don't say get a new computer. If I had that power, we wouldn't be having this conversation:)

Enabling Reader Extended PDFs is now useless.

PDF forms can be filled and saved without restriction since Acrobat Reader XI (2012).

For AEM forms you need the extension.

It's only "useless" if everyone you interact with has the latest version of Acrobat and Reader. I don't have that luxury, and need to create Reader Extended forms so I know they'll work with older Reader versions. But even though I'm running the very latest version of Acrobat Pro DC after the Adobe tech remotely accessed my machine, I'm still getting this:

I'm pretty sure that "creating Reader Extended forms...to work with older versions" is now dead. Because old versions of Reader are affected (so far as I can see) by the same change, and now NOBODY can Reader enable for these old apps. Reader enabling is now a game for new Acrobat and new Reader only. Anyone with better info?
