I had the same problem in June 2021, and I found a patch to fix it, now I can't find how to fix the problem again.

I saw a suggestion somewhere to copy the text with formatting, in the right-click menu... Hopefully that will work until Adobe fixes this bug (again).

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and sorry about the trouble.

The team is aware of this issue and investigating it further.

We will update you once we have the fix available.

In the meantime, please try using “Copy with formatting” instead of “Copy” from the right-click menu on text selection.

Check if that helps.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

We'll need more information to help you.

"does not recognize accents":

  • Are the accented characters missing in your PDF?
  • Are there spaces or another character where the accented character should be?
  • Did you inherit this PDF, or did you export it from another program? If so, which program (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)?
  • Or are the characters not pronounced / voiced correctly when using a screen reader with the PDF?
  • What operating system are you using?
  • And which version of Acrobat are you using? Reader or Standard or Pro? And what version number is it?

Thank you very much for your response. The accented characters are present in the pdf. The problem is when I copy the text to paste it into word, the accented characters disappear, and there is only a blank space in word.
My system is macOS monterey 12.1, and I use Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2021.011.20039.
