Allow Rich Text Formatting on a Mac

Been trying for a few hours to figure this out on my own, but having some issues. I'm trying to edit a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, I need to have subscripts and superscripts in a fillable form. I've copied and pasted from Microsoft Word, which worked previously, but is not working now. I've read that you need to enable "Allow Rich Text Formatting" to edit specific text, but I can't figure out how to do this. Any suggestions?

The "Allow Rich Text Formatting" option is something you need to change in the field's properties. You need Adobe Acrobat for that (and the document needs to allow such changes). With just the free Adobe Reader, you are limited by what the form author enabled. I assume that this worked in the past because this option was actually set by the form's author.
