@markelrayesfound a solution on another thread.

"I FOUND A SOLUTION.

I had to go C:\Users\[me]\AppData\Local and right click the Adobe folder, click properties and go to security tab. I had a bunch of left-over "Account Unknown" listed besides my three main ones (System, [me], Admin). I deleted all the account unknowns."

If you can't delete all the Account Unknown files through "EDIT", select "ADVANCED" and remove them.

Spread the word. I didn't even have to reboot after doing this and my error disappeared.

Hi manuelc19497058,

Sorry about the trouble caused.

Please let us know if the issue has started occurring recently.

Would you mind sharing the Acrobat and OS versions on the machine?

It would be helpful if you could share the screenshot and video of the workflow you do. That will help us in investigating this issue.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I see from other threads that Manuelc has a similar problem as I have. When I click on a pdf in File Explorer the error pops up, and there is no preview in the preview pane.

I don't work in Acrobat DC often so I'm not sure if it happens inside the software too.

If I try to open a pdf in another program like CorelDraw, it will give the error, but still allows me to open the file.

Windows10 Home 64-bit OS Build 19044.2130

Adobe Acrobat Pro Continuous Release Version 2022.003.20258 64-bit

I have had this issue since mid-September, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program multiple times.

Attached is a screengrab, it doesn't matter what size the pdf is.

That is good to hear, it doesn't seem to work for all Windows 11 users.

Hi Johanna, are you working on Windows 11?

Have you typed in the filepath at the top of your page? Like this C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local because the AppData folder may be hidden by default. Remember to right-click on the Adobe folder once you're in the Local folder. I've attached screenshots to help you.

Not everyone on Win 11 seems to be able to fix their error with this solution so as a temporary fix, you can open Adobe DC, go to "Help" and then click on "Repair Installation", this seems to work for a while.

I tried your solution, there were no other users.  So this didn't help me at all.

internal error.pngexpand image I am having this same issue for 2 days and I am getting frustrated. I have uninstalled and resintalled 2 or 3 times. I have contacted adobe support and I have contacted our IT team at work. Any pdf I click on in onedrive or our company server says INTERAL ERROR and freezes and crashes everything. I cant even attach more than 1 pdf to an outlook email without outlook freezing and crashing. Appears to only be PDF files too.

Try deleting the Account Unknown files like I mentioned in my comment on the original post.

This works for me but after reboot the problem is back I now have to manually remove the accounts each time I use the compute. There must be a better way 😞

Hi there,

You need go into "Advanced" to select the 'Remove all inherited permissions from this object' option for the Unknown accounts. That seems to work for most people if the problem comes back.

Do you share your Creative Cloud subscription with someone else or work on multiple PC's? Do you use more than one licence on your machine?

I'm not sure what causes the multiple unknown accounts, but I suspect it has something to do with multiple licenses. I have a private account and a work one. Another user with this issue mentions that they have multiple licenses because they are the account holder for their company, but after disabling inheritance, their issue seems to have disappeared.

I've attached screen shots. Let me know if this helps?

Have you tried opening Adobe Acrobat Dc and then going to "Help" and "Repair Installation"?
