Animated GIF into PDF

I thought it wasn't possible to add an animated GIF into a PDF but I read the following answer in QUORA:
"It is possible to embed an animated GIF in any PDF however it will be a still photo once saved. To keep the animation, you will need to use tools like PDF editors to be able to play it as it is once saved as PDF. Here is a way using Adobe Acrobat:

Step one: Open the file in Adobe Acrobat then click “tools” and then click “advanced editing.” Then select "TouchUp Object Tool."

Step two: Right-click on the PDF and insert an image by selecting “place image” from the pop-up menu. Another window will appear.

Step three: Make sure to select “Compuserve GIF” from file type on the drop-down box.

Step four: select the GIF file from your files

Note that it needs the paid version of Adobe to be able to do so"

I am trying to follow that process.
Question is. does it make sense?
If so, ho to do it in Acrobat DC. I can't find the TouchUp Object Tool for intence.

You won't find it in Acrobat Pro DC because this used to be a feature of older versions of Acrobat . I would say version 10 and earlier.

The equivalent workflow would be to use the Rich Media tool.  In the Rich Media tool there are two other tools of interest: "Add 3D"  and "AddVideo".

I am not sure if "Add 3D" could work because I  haven't tested this, but if you use "Add Video", and to make this work,  the GIF file needs to be converted to a supported movie format.

Supported video file formats for the Add Video tool in Acrobat Pro DC are .mov, .mp4, .m4v .3gp .3g2.

So your first step would be to find a file converter from GIF to MOV. Then open the Rich Media tool, select "Add Video" and browse for the file and add it to your document. Once you add the video frame you can right click on it to see the Properties of this field, where you can adjust other settings.

The animated GIF format has never been supported in the PDF format.

Disappointing that Adobe makes it so much harder to include motion files. MS Word added motion file compatibility a few years ago.

It's not Adobe that manages PDF, it's the ISO, and has been for over 15 years.
