Question

Application is not Responding

I have a PC with Windows 7, and purchased Acrobat 8 Standard a few years ago and it has been working fine.  Then, about 3 weeks ago I tried to print a Word document to a pdf and Acrobat just sits there saying Not Responding.  I closed the program and tried to just open Acrobat 8, but as soon as you try to do anything, the Not Responding message comes up.  If I click on a previous pdf, Acrobat will open with that document, but then sits there and grinds away saying Not Responding.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times, even removed Adobe Reader and Acrobat 8, then reinstalled only Acrobat 8, but still no joy.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Windows 7, so such problems are to be expected. You need to get a newer version.

Thank you for the reply, but I'm confused.  Acrobat 8 Standard has worked fine for 2 years with Windows 7, including scanning to pdf, printing to pdf, allowing the use of fillable pdf documents, etc., and just recently stopped working.  Maybe you are suggesting that a new Windows 7 update has caused this problem?

Being non-compatible doesn't meant it won't work... It just means it's not tested nor supported, so even if it does work every small change (like an update) can cause it to stop working.
