Bad Parameter error when trying to use the Cloud shape under Comment tool

New Here ,
May 07, 2020 May 07, 2020

I have a user who has been using DC pro for years without issues. This morning he attempted to use the "Cloud" Shape under the Comment tool "Draw Shape" and he receives the "Bad Parameter" error. Below are the troubleshooting steps I have done.

1. Complete uninstall and reinstall of all Adobe Products.

2. Clear all Adobe Registry keys

3. Attempted the Post script fix & the combine document fix

4. Deleted and re-created his Adobe account along with a fresh install.

5. Contacted Adobe support tier 1. They were absolutely no help whatsoever. They said and I quote "I dont know how to fix it. Figure it out on your own!" & hung up on me.

In closing, I need help from someone actually willing to assist in this matter. Please respond with urgency if you have ever experienced this issue and know a fix because I have never seen this.

Also, I have tested that it is just the bubble shape. The other shapes work perfectly fine.

Hey Brandon,

Are you able to get a screenshot of the error and possibly a log file with the error?

In which operating system is this occuring? and What version of Acrobat is this user having issues with?

Also, can you tell if this is happening with every PDF that is opened in that computer or  just with one particular PDF?

Aside from those questions there is a few more things that are kind of hard to understand in your inquiry:

  • Below are the troubleshooting steps I have done.
    1. Complete uninstall and reinstall of all Adobe Products.

When you say complete uninstall / reinstall did you used the Adobe Acrobat Cleanup & Repair Tool to remove old traces of software?

  • 2. Clear all Adobe Registry keys

Again, how?  The Adobe Cleanup & Repair Tool takes care of these entries, folders, and orphan files. Is this is the tool that you used?

  • 4. Deleted and re-created his Adobe account along with a fresh install.

Was this product installed using the Creative Cloud Desktop App?

  • 5. Contacted Adobe support tier 1. They were absolutely no help whatsoever. They said and I quote "I dont know how to fix it. Figure it out on your own!" & hung up on me.

Did you call again to see if could've get ahold of an more decent and more empathetic and truly customer-oriented and more professional and less sociopathic millenial ?

Or did you try and escalate the call to another department?

PS -- I'm sorry to hear that. I thought Generation X was a lost cause.  It is a shame to actually accept the fact that in the near future some of us will be interviewed for a job by morons like the one who hung up the phone on you...   I almost did say millenial morons. But I didn't. I  want to believe that one day, and hopefully with less diseases and violence, that some of these young sociopaths behind the phone can actually reproduce and give birth to a new generation of actual humans with emotions again.

Any more insight on this? Using Acrobat Pro 2020 stand alone and get the bad parameter error when trying to use the cloud draw feature. Tried the Cleanup & Repair tool without any success. I can use the cloud draw feature fine with Reader DC.
