Question

Basic Acrobat editing

I'm pretty new to Acrobat editing and found this simple task a little confusing.

I have Acrobat DC but have barely gotten into it yet. All I need to do is ad www. in front of the last line of the document attached, but so far I haven't had any success.

I have edited a few pdfs before, but I can't seem to get the text blocks to show up on this one.

  Any suggestions?

Hi sid,

Oh, one other quick thought. When you select the Edit tab, there's no way for Acrobat to know what "kind" of edit you want to do. Above your document you should see something like this:

You want to select "Add Text," if you want to add a new block of text but if you want to edit text (which sounds like what you want to do to add the www), select the "Edit" text.

Is this the help you need?

I was not able to select Edit Text, only Add Text, which I'm guessing means this isn't editable.

Hi Sid,

OK, seems my first thought was the correct issue.

Go into Tools and look for the tool "Scan and OCR." It looks like this:

It might also be on the right side of your project window, it will look like this:

Either way, enter into this tool.

Now, just above your document you should see this and press the dropdown menu to see all of your options.

If you have a document already open, select the top option (In this File).

If you want to process a bunch of files, have them all in the same folder and when you select the 2nd option you can direct it to the folder with your files and you can select all of them.

Either way, when you select this you do have to also tap the "Recognize Text" button or nothing will happen. (That's bitten me so many times and I know about this!)

Anyhow, this will take a few moment-minutes depending on the size of the document(s). Once that's done you will need to resave your documents. But then you should be able to "www" away with abandon.

Let us know if this solves your problem!

Hi Sid,

Usually when you go into Edit mode, if the page you are working on has not been made "searchable" (is still a photo of a page and has not been OCR-ed), Acro-DC will OCR the page. If the page is not editable text (searchable), you cannot edit the text.

When you open one of these pages, can you select text or does the whole page turn blue when you drag across text in the document?

The whole page turns blue.
